Cruise Ships Wellington - One Hundred and One Visitors
This album features cruise ships that have visited Wellington, New Zealand's capital city, from the early days of cruising prior to World War II through to the giant floating resorts of today.
A number of the ships described are not what many would consider cruise liners. Wellington has been visited by ships cruising the world providing medical services, youth goodwill exchanges, trade exhibitions, book sales, navigational trainging and crews for foreign fishing fleets. The growth of the international cruise fleet has been phenomenal and the industry is a major income earner for New Zealand. We can look forward to market development as the world increasingly appreciates what Wellington, and New Zealand, has to offer the international tourist.
