When Country Comes to Town - A Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association and Show
Canterbury A&P Association, 2012. Minor wear to top of dustjacket spine, otherwise good secondhand condition.
In 2012, the Canterbury A&P Association is celebrated its sesquicentenary. That is, 150 years of agricultural and pastoral endeavour; 150 years of loyalty from its ever-changing roll-call of members and exhibitors, each one dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in farming practice in this region. The Canterbury A&P Association was founded in 1863, but its roots reach right back to the earliest, independent squatters on the Plains and the Peninsula, and the Canterbury pilgrims, all of whom saw the land, understood its promise and set about realising its worth. This book looks at the evolution of the Canterbury A&P Association, the notable citizens and hardworking families who have sustained and nurtured it through the highs and lows if its history, and the changing nature of the annual Canterbury A&P Show, which is the showcase of the farming industry nationwide.
