This book is a collection of 153 carefully selected photographs together with suitable text from recognised authentic accounts of the early days of Australia. The photos date from the very inception of outdoor photography throughout the world and all photographs contained in the book are printed not less than full plate size. The photos portray conditions, modes of dress, streets of major cities of Australia, together with ships of the period in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and illustrate the various modes of transport from the days of Cobb & Co., horse-drawn trams, steam and cable trams and depict transport and its progress from the 1850s to the 1920s.
