The Dynamic Doctor - Arthur Moody of Otago
Richards Publishing, Auckland, 1978, 151 pages.
Arthur Moody was one of the first doctor-surgeons trained in New Zealand. He practised first on the Taieri Plains and then in Dunedin, eventually becoming a Chairman of the Otago Hospital Board during a turbulent period. His liveliness and medical dedication became a legend and his patients revered him. He developed a keen interest in agriculture and successively farmed Lauder Station and Table Hill estate.
'The Dynamic Doctor' encompasses his dual career in medicine and on the land, and includes world travel, boating expeditions to Fiordland, and holidays in teh undeveloped lake district and early ski-fields of Central Otago.
Winifred Moody recaptures the character of her distinguished husband, and the variety of medical life and country life in an absorbing manner.
