Kronfeld has been described as the best open-side flanker in the world. He was named one of Australian Inside Sport's 10 sportspeople of the world in 1998, alongside Tiger Woods and Pete Sampras. A passionate surfer, musician, flyer, artist, and complete `adrenalin-freak', Kronfeld's ideas and style have not always gone down well in traditional rugby circles. Some of his most heroic battles have been off, rather than on, the field. With Jeff Wilson, he was the first All Black to sign with the NZRFU during the World Rugby Corporation debavle.
