This series of 24 volumes (originally planned to be 47) was intended to present aspects of NZ's part in WW2 which didn't receive detailed treatment in the campaign volumes of the Official War History of NZ, and which are considered either worthy of special notice or typical of many phases of our war experience. In this volume on the Long Range Desert Group, the war diaries and official records of A (NZ) Squadron, LRDG, were consulted, ampliified by the recollections of the officers and men who served with the unit, the despatches of General Sir Henry Wilson and Vice-Admiral Sir Algernon Willis, Long Range Desert Group by W B K Shaw, Dust Upon the Sea by W E Benyon-Tinker, and notes on the Aegean operations by Captain R A Tinker.
