Punishment Without Crime

The true story of a man who spent 24yrs in prison for a crime he did not commit. In 1937, on New York's Lower East Side, a gang of young men tried to hold up an all-night restaurant, and in the gun battle that followed a policeman was killed. Subsequently 5 boys were sentenced to death, but one of them, Isidore Zimmerman in time gained a calm self-respect and finally found a lawyer willing to take on his apparently hopeless case. Once a free man, Zimmerman was able to tell the story of his life, of his arrest, of his wrongful conviction for murder, of his 9-months in Sing Sing's death-house, of his years in confinement, and of his rehabilitation and redemption.
