Joseph Lycett: Governor Macquarie's Convict Artist

Lycett, the engraver turned counterfeiter, landed in Macquarie's Sydney Town in 1814, where he plied the second of these professions until he landed a hard-labour sentence in Newcastle. He became Macquarie's artist 'in the special employ'. He returned to England, published his 'Views of Australia' but 'came to no good'.
