A Pictorial Companion to Shakespeare's Plays

Photographs of theatrical productions, films, operas, and ballets of the comedies and tragedies of William Shakespeare are accompanied by quotations from the plays.

The plays are presented in rough chronological order and the anthology includes some of the most famous actors and productions as captured by the artists and photographers of their time. It is hoped that the juxtaposition of picture and text will have a special appeal to the theatregoer and student alike.
