Description

Some secondhand wear to cover and page edge. Sun fading to spine.

This wonderful monograph has been published to celebrate the important work of architecture practice, Jasmax. Jasmax had its genesis in the 1989 merger of three separate architectural practices, the oldest being Jasmad, formed in 1963. Key early Jasmad milestones were building such as International House; a raft of regional hotels and pubs, including the Rarotongan Hotel; continued work at the University of Auckland, especially the Recreation Centre; Maori and Polynesian work, and museums and cultural buildings. When Pip Cheshire joined in 1989, the practice morphed into Jasmax. Award-winning designs followed including Te Papa Tongarewa, Samoa House, the Congreve House, ASB Bank's data centre C:Drive; Vodafones's head office V.nue; the AUT Business School and the Britomart Transport Centre. The projects illustrated in this lively book are grouped loosely into four categories with matching essays: Infrastructure, Work, Culture and Home and Hospitality. Accompanying essays explore Jasmax's contributions in these areas. Without doubt this is the most colourful, extensive and diverse monograph published in New Zealand for some time. Because Jasmax has had such a major creative impact on New Zealand buildings, interest in this book is expected to be high. First published May 2007.
