Description

Sometimes with a quiet chuckle - sometimes with a rumbustious humour - sometimes with a tenderness and a little sadness, James Sanders tells of his love of life and of the people he has met along the highways and saddleways and skyways.

We follow his escapades as a young farm hand and, later, as a shepherd and sheep station manager. We come through the depression years with him, sharing his small fortunes and larger misfortunes as a horse-breaker, a casual labourer, a wool-classer, a part-time radio singer and a newspaperman.

He takes us with him as a trainee pilot in the R.N.Z.A.F. and we share his guile in passing his wings exam. We journey with him to England, Malta, the Middle East and the Scandinavian seas as he tells us vividly of Air Force Life; and we experience with him the actions to repatriation as he settles down in New Zealand again as a civilian.

He tells us of newspaper cartooning and commercial art, and of the beginnings of an advertising agency. And he opes a door a little to give us a glimpse of modern agency life.

This is the autobiography of a man who enjoys living. 'The Time of my Life' is a great, warm human story.
