Betty Roland was a Melbourne girl who ran away to Moscow with her communist lover, Guido Baracchi, in the beginning of 1933. She expected to remain three weeks, but she broke all the rules by getting a job in the all powerful Co-operative publishing house and stayed for 15 months.
