Truckers: New Zealand Truckers on the Road
Hodder Moa Beckett, 2000. In good used condition. Some wear to the covers.
Trucking is a booming industry and today more trucks than ever are hauling bulk cargo and freight all over New Zealand. Truckers is the story of New Zealand's trucking culture. It looks at the many different individuals behind the 'trucker' stereotype - their rigs and cargoes, the runs they make throughout the country and their all-consuming passion for trucking. We meet the likes of 'Porno Pete' who drives a Bonney's road tanker that carries liquid polymer, and the petite 24-year-old Amber Wilson who hauls barley in her Mack 470 Elite. We follow runs like 'The Bullet' from Auckland to Gisborne and fly by the seat of our pants down the Otira Zigzag. We hear how truckers make their living from the trucks they drive and learn about the camaraderie, the danger and the sheer enjoyment of life on the road.
