Frances Preston was one of New Zealand earliest women doctors, graduating from the Otago Medical School, Dunedin, in 1922. Her medical service included locum, hospital and sanatorium work in Dunedin, New Plymouth, Rotorua, and the Hokianga, where she worked with the famous eccentric Dr. G.M. Smith.
