Tales of the Waikanae Estuary

The Waikanae river mouth, lagoons and estuary on the Kapiti Coast are a particularly favoured habitat for native, introduced and migrant birds. The estuary is host to over 60 species, including godwits that migrate to and from Siberia. Builder Mik Peryer retired to live near the estuary and found himself taking tours and telling stories about the sanctuary's birdlife.
