New Zealand Birds
Published by A.H. & A.W. Reed, Wellington, 1955. Second edition. Good secondhand condition, missing jacket.
This was the only important contribution to the literature of our Bird Life since Buller's work, published nearly fifty years ago, and is the FISRT COMPLETE REFERENCE BOOK on this most interesting subject.
The writer, W.R.B. Oliver, M.Sc., was well equipped for the tremendous task he has so well accomplished. Director of the DOMINION MUSEUM, he was, also, a Fellow of The New Zealand Institute, a Member of The Australian Ornithologists' Union, and a Corresponding Fellow of The American Ornithologists' Union.
THE SUBJECT MATTER.
In his official capacity, the author is the recipient of countless enquiries, departmental and private, from all classes of the community, concerning every phase of our Dominion's Bird Life. Taking these, spread over a series of years, he has used them as a basis and guide in matter and treatment, with the happy result of providing a wealth of valuable and interesting information.
