The Battle of Messines Road

The Battle of Messines Road is a commentary on the changing perception of war over time amongst New Zealanders, and is an invitation to remember what is slipping away from public consciousness to explain to today's generation (in this case exemplified by young Zac) the reason why medal-bedecked old men huddle around war memorials to the sound of the Last Post each year.
