First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾ tall. 3 volumes, the first containing Atherton and the subsequent two, many other short stories by the same author. Binding is embossed, blue cloth with gilt lettering on spine. Corners are bumped and rubbed and spine edges and ends are worn and bumped. There are attractive ex-libris labels on front endpapers of all volumes and volume 1 has 2 other owner's names on free front endpaper. Frontispiece engravings of all volumes have original tissue. Hinge partially cracked at bottom of volume 1 and title page of this volume partially loose. Otherwise binding is tight. Some foxing throughout, particularly on rear of frontispieces.
