Women's Words - A Guide to Manuscripts & Archives in the Alexander Turnbull Library Relating to Women in the Nineteenth Century
1985 marked the end of the United Nations Decade for Women. At that time Ann Hercus, the first MInister for Women's Affairs, called on the Alexander Turnbull Library to commemorate the occasion. The Library acted on three suggestions proposed by the staff. In May 1986 a special 'Women's Studies' Issue of the Turnbull Library Record was published, and in October of that year a series of photographic prints entitled 'A Woman's Work' was produced. WOMEN'S WORDS is the third of these commemorative publications.
