Te Hekenga - Reminiscences of Early Horowhenua

These reminiscences of early Horowhenua of Rod McDonald were compiled and written by W E O'Donnell in 1929. They cover the earliest pioneering European settlement, after a brief history of the prior Maori inhabitation of the area. Mainly anecdotal they provide a vivid picture of the conditions, experiences, problems and developments that the settlers faced and overcame up to the last years of the 1800s.
