Places - From The Pages of The NZ Listener

The New Zealand Listener has been everywhere and has written about New Zealand in all its glory and all its weirdness, from mountain tops to city sewers. This gift book contains a selection of the most interesting Listener articles, written between 1948 and 2005, about a variety of New Zealand places. They are accompanied by Listener archive photographs. The 'places' range from Stewart Island to Kaikohe, via Nightcaps, the Denniston mines, and K Road in Auckland. Along the way, the reader is taken on a visit to the Otaki Health Camps in the 1960s, the building of the Beehive in Wellington in the 1970s, and race day in Kumara in the 1980s. The book is a highly enjoyable slice of life in New Zealand.
