When Pat Lawlor, journalist and bookman, began to dip into his boyhood diaries not even he guessed at first the full extent of the riches he was to find. The happy outcome of his first delvings was OLD WELLINGTON DAYS, a book which was so warmly welcomed throughout the country that it was out of print a few months after publication.
When he delved further, into memories and archives, he produced a manuscript which, it was immediately obvious to those who read the first draft, it would be even better than its predecessor. The result is MORE WELLINGTON DAYS, a book that presents in words and pictures exciting, humorous and thoughtful vignettes of fifty and sixty years ago.
'I have found my old shoes easy to travel with,' writes Mr Lawlor in his introduction, 'and when the ground traversed is dear old Wellington, how grand the journey for us all.'
