To the best of the author's knowledge, this is the only work of its kind on this particular subject. The careers of nearly 1100 officers, representing almost every regiment and corps of the British Army and Royal Marines, are described. The amount of biographical material available varies, but every effort has been made to include as much basic information as possible, including dates of birth and death. decorations, regiment or corps, ranks and details of active service. In many cases additional points of interest have been added under `Remarks.' The Historical Introduction explains how and why the Egyptian Army in this period came to be officered by the British, and the Appendices supply additional information relating to its organization and operations...
