A Sea of Words is the second of the two volumes of autobiography of M. H. Holcroft, and the sequel to The Way of the Writer. These books give unparalled insights into New Zealand society, particularly the writing scene.
As the longest serving editor of The Listener, he fostered writers and poets and presented them to a wide readership, thus helping to create a climate in which literature could develop. Here are many of the great names in New Zealand writing, people presented in the round as Holcroft knew them.
