The Forgotten People - The Story of the Fort Berthold Indian Mission 1876-1985

This book presents the other side of the picture of the North American Indian from that depicted by `Westerns' (films and books). It traces the story of Christian enterprise among the three Affiliated Tribes, Mandadn, Hidatsa and Arickara, from the paternalism of the 19th century to the self-government of the 20th, and incidentally tells how the Indian was assimiliated into the white man's culture by means of a particular mission in North Dakota.
