As an added bonus, this copy is signed by Alan Mulgan a well-known NZ journalist and author) as a gift for a friend.

The book was first published in 1938. The second edition was revised and updated with the addition of a postscript and new illustrations. The Katikati settlement of Ulstermen was organised by George Vesey Stewert and was one of the last of the NZ special settlements. Much regarding him and his settlement schemes is included in the text.
