In 1956 New Zealand won its first cricket test, against the West Indies at Eden Park. In 2002 they had another crucial victory at the same location, this time against England, a win that not only squared the series but also brought up our fiftieth test victory. The First Fifty marks this achievement, by revisiting each of those test matches. Enthusiasts will be able to relive those great games, including the inaugural victory over Australia (Christchurch, 1973-74), and the first win against England (Wellington, 1977-78). Games are presented in chronological order, and each is prefaced by a relevant quote, and completed with the scorecard. The emphasis is not on a ball-by-ball description of the game, but on the key events preceding and during the match. And each game features an interview with a key player. For instance, man of the match Glenn Turner speaks about the first win over Australia.
