The Two-Way Street

This is a study of why people volunteer for overseas service (and why some do not), what they give to it and what they gain. Beginning with a history of Volunteer Service Abroad in the context of New Zealand's voluntary aid movements, it examines the personalities, histories and motivations of those who volunteer, and the impact of the experience on their lives.
