Blest Madman - Fitzgerald of Canterbury

A biography of James Fitzgerald, an aristocratic Irishman who came to New Zealand in 1850. He was known as an essayist and poet, artist, journalist, civil servant, politician, orator, singer, and lecturer. He was Canterbury's first Superintendent, founder of 'The Press', and New Zealand's first Comptroller-General of Finance. A portrait of the man, and of the history and development of Canterbury.
