Description
Christchurch Nag's Head Press, Published 1987, Hardback with dustjacket, in good condition.
The great event of the year 1953, when Helen Bateman set out alone on her trip to Britain and Europe, was always going to be the Coronation with its attendant festivities in London and elsewhere. As a trained journalist she was on line to report the occasion itself - which she duly did - for the Christchurch 'Star-Sun', where she had made her start in the profession. The selected letters cover in extract three full summer months, starting appropriately with the run up to the Coronation at the beginning of June and concluding with attendance at some fo the performances of the Edinburgh Festival at the latter end of August.
