While browsing through the famous second-hand bookshops in Hay on Wye, New Zealander James Buchanan came across a rich assortment of illustrations and articles pertaining to New Zealand fro, 19th century illustrated publications. Most of the material was from The Illustrated London News, but also from The Saturday Magazine, The Pictorial Weekly, The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, The French L'Univers Illustre, and The Graphic.
