Early New Zealand Engineers
A.H. & A.W. Reed, Wellington, 1953. First edition. Maroon cloth with black titles on spine. Corners are bumped but boards are bright and clean. Contents tight. Foxing throughout, particularly to page edges, e/p's and prelims. No inscriptions. 306pp with diagrams at rear. DW is good with edge-wear and sunning. Good copy with DW.
Revised and edited by W.L. Newnham. Although the introductory section of this book traces the engineering progress of the early provinces in some detail, this volume is essentiall a who was who of NZ engineering for it deals with the men themselves rather than with their engineering projects. Even so, it records a great deal about the engineering problems of the new country and the manner in which they were overcome.
