Description
On 17 October 1810 Crown Prince Ludwig married Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen and Munich celebrated this event with a large public horserace, initiated by wagecoachman Franz Baumgartner, which laid the foundations for the world's biggest fair - the Wies'n. It was the ideas and the drive of the Munichers - brewers, carnies, publicans - to whom the Octoberfest owes its unique character. 250 historic photographs and postcards trace this fantastic atmosphere of the Wies'n and inspire the reader with exciting episodes from the past.
