With their low-slung roof-lines and imposing verandahs, bungalows are a familiar part of our suburban landscape. The bungalow is found throughout the world, admired always for its informal layout and simple charms. New Zealand developed its own unique style, which became our first modern house. This book traces the origins and development of this important architectural style.
